Sometimes, as with the current pandemic, they even risk their own safety, health and lives to provide the services they do.

Shampoo, cut, condition, color, curl or straighten your hair.

Provide clients with information on what styles and colors are best for them based on their hair texture, condition, color and complexion.

Shave your beard and get facials.

Use cosmetics to enhance or change the appearance of an actor or artist.

Treat people's skin, assess skin condition and apply treatment after discussing alternatives.

Some states allow barbers to apply color and bleach and use chemicals to straighten or curl hair

Cosmetologist skills and competencies
